Walking tours for the Franklin Batttlefield and the Historic Toussaint L’Ouverture Cemetery are available, the later on your cellular phone. All you do is call and listen as you leisurely walk through the space and learn about history. Go alone or in groups and enjoy your guided tour this weekend.

Beginning March 19th the Battle of Franklin Trust will offer comprehensive walking tours of the Franklin Battlefield. Seven locations are scheduled on the route and focus on many elements of the battle such as why it happened, the arrival of the two armies and details of the assaults. “For decades, guests have come from around the world to experience the brief window we offer into the tragedy and pageantry of that day in 1864,” said Eric A. Jacobson, Chief Operating Officer of the Battle of Franklin Trust. “We felt it was time to take the next logical step in guiding our guests as they experience walking the battlefield themselves.”
John Marler, former Park Ranger at Petersburg National Battlefield, will conduct the tours. Jacobson, who has authored three books related to the Battle of Franklin, will also conduct tours on occasion. “As we approach the 150th anniversary of the battle, we wanted to give the battlefield experience new life,” said Jacobson. “This is like nothing offered before in Franklin.”
Tickets are only $25 at the Carter House and reservations may be made by contacting Megan Smith at 615-794-0903 or by emailing [email protected]. The tours are approximately 90 minutes and run throughout the day. The weather is perfect to explore and enjoy this opportunity, so come on out.
