Walk Across Williamson Saturday April 13th

Walk Across Williamson WCS

The fifth annual Walk Across Williamson physical activity program will happen this Saturday, April 13th at Pinkerton Park. Join the community from 9-11 a.m. for walking, moving, Kid Zumba, bicycle safety, martial arts demonstrations and more.

Throughout the month of March participants have logged the minutes spent being active each day. The Williamson County Health Council, sponsors of Walk Across Williamson, recognize the importance of children engaging in adequate physical activity to combat childhood obesity. “Physical activity and exercise can positively impact lifelong health. By introducing physical activity into children’s lives through the involvement of family and schools, children are more likely to adopt good exercise habits,” said health council chairperson Kristi Sylvester.

School which have logged the most time and participants are eligible for grants provided by Coordinated School Health Programs in their district. This effort is collaboration between Williamson County Health Council, Williamson County Schools and Franklin Special School District. Community members, teachers, parents and children have come together to make a difference in their health and to bring awareness to others.
