Studio Tenn Theatre Company is pleased to announce its fifth season, “Blockbusters of Stage and Screen!” The 2014-2015 season, beginning Sept 4th, will feature Broadway’s internationally beloved “Fiddler on the Roof,” Southern staple “Steel Magnolias,” holiday masterpiece “It’s A Wonderful Life,” all-new original musical revue “The Cash Legacy: A Musical Tribute to the Man in Black,” and fantasy family favorite, “The Wizard of Oz.”

Season tickets are on sale at StudioTenn.com.   Artistic Director Matt Logan said some of this season’s selections were first famous films, while others were originally stage productions whose later movie adaptations achieved timeless glory.

In each case, Logan said, Studio Tenn’s aim is “to honor the iconicism of these titles’ flagship performances while reaching beyond the conventional trappings to elevate the powerful truths at the core of these stories and characters that have endeared them to us for generations.”

It’s a challenge to effectively bring newness and immediacy to something so ubiquitously and fondly familiar, but that is our charge as artists,” Logan continues. “We’re not out to make exact copies of things that have been—even great things that have been; rather, we want to celebrate the enduring relevance of these classics by re-invigorating them with a fresh, original perspective.”

productions in the 2014—2015 season will be held in Jamison Hall at The Factory at Franklin, where Studio Tenn has put down permanent Williamson County roots with new office, rehearsal, studio and performance spaces. The company relocated earlier this year. Managing Director Jake Speck shares, “We are thrilled to have found a long-term home in The Factory and are very excited about presenting our upcoming season in our new highly versatile performance venue.”
