Early 3-pointer lands FRA junior in prestigous club

Kenny Cooper’s first quarter 3-pointer against University School of Nashville Friday night was more than a normal basketball for Franklin Road Academy as it earned the junior admittance into the 1,000 point club.

“It feels great to have hit 1,000 points in my career,” Cooper said. “But what makes it even better is doing it with a group of guys that are like a family. We play hard every night for each other.”

Cooper finished the game with 12 points and 10 assists as the Panthers ran away from USN, a Division II-A foe, 70-40.
FRA coach John Pierce is impressed not only by Cooper reaching the 1,000 point club in his junior year, but also by his willingness to distribute the ball – highlighted by his 10 assists Friday.

“To reach 1,000 points midway through your junior year is awesome,” the coach said. “He could have probably scored 1,500 by now, but he is a very unselfish player. Any recognition Kenny gets is well deserved because of his humble and unselfish nature.”

Cooper is getting attention from the next level as Middle Tennessee State University was in attendance to watch him play.

FRA was well rounded on the score sheet as Wynne Tansil had 11 points and Brennan Crook added 10. In all, 10 Panthers had points against USN.

The Panthers next play Webb School Saturday night before a tilt against Montgomery Bell Academy Monday.
