First Lady Crissy Haslam made a stop at Lipscomb Elementary School in honor of Read Across America Week.

Haslam read to a third-grade class in Lipscomb Elementary’s library. Haslam reads to elementary schools all over the state of Tennessee in an effort to encourage students to read.

“Reading is a predictor of their success in life,” Haslam said. “I love going around the state and encouraging kids to learn to love reading and to work hard at it.”

Haslam read What Pet Should I Get? in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday, March 2.
