Fairview High Receives Pathway Certification from State

Fairview High School is one of only 74 high schools in the state to receive a Pathways Certification from the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE).

The TDOE announced the first recipients of the Pathways Certification in a press release November 7. The certification is given to schools who have a high quality of K-12 college and career advisement, rigorous post-secondary and work-based learning in high schools and a strong alignment between K-12, post-secondary programs and career opportunities due to community collaboration.

Fairview High’s mechatronics program checks off all the boxes. To receive the certification, schools sent in applications detailing their post-secondary and employer partnerships, early college and career experiences and structures for providing students with high-quality career advisement. More than 400 applications were submitted from 81 school districts around the state.

“We are honored that our mechatronics program has earned the Tennessee Pathways Certification,” said FVHS Principal Dr. Kurt Jones. “We strive to provide our students with a meaningful, fulfilling and productive path that will open up doors for their future. I want to thank our partner Columbia State Community College and our business partners who are consistently willing to collaborate to make our program the best it can be.”
