WCS Elementary OER Social Studies Specialist Liza Vaughn has an exciting summer ahead of her.
Vaughn was selected to attend the Library of Congress Summer Teacher Institute in July. This week-long professional development program lets attendees use material in the Library to design activities for their students. While there, Vaughn may also meet with experts from the Library and research in the Library’s reading rooms.
“It’s an amazing feeling to have been selected for such a prestigious opportunity,” Vaughn said. “I am excited to explore the world’s largest library and its collection of historical artifacts.”
Vaughn is also eager to share what she learns with her colleagues so others can benefit.
“I’ll be developing teaching strategies that I can bring back to the district,” Vaughn said. “I am also looking forward to enlarging my network of peers who share my same passion for history.”
