Five days after first-year coach Ensworth head coach Jeremy Garrett resigned to become a defensive quality control coach at Vanderbilt, Ensworth has found his replacement and he is familiar to Tiger fans.

Roc Batten who served as the Ensworth defensive coordinator for six years (2005-10) has been tabbed as the third head football coach in Ensworth history.

Besides being the head football coach, he will also serve Associate Director of Admissions at Ensworth as well.

“Coach Batten was a great asset to our staff when we were building the foundations of Ensworth’s high school, and we are honored to welcome him back as our head football coach,” Ensworth Athletic Director Ricky Bowers said via press release.

For the last eight years, Batten made BGA a force in both Division II-A and AA as the Wildcats were 64-31 under him making the playoffs all eight seasons four times each in Division II-A (2013-16) and Division II-AA (2011, 12, 17 and 18).

The Wildcats finished as the Division II-AA runner up to CPA last season as they finished 11-3 and were the Division II-A runner up back in 2014.
