Local Living: 5 Things to Do This Week

1. Arts Council Presents “New-World Technology Meets Old-World Artistry”

Shelling Peas by Anne Goetze

WHAT: Anne Goetze is a nationally recognized Tennessee artist who works in mixed media. Using camera and paintbrush she has spent over 15 years documenting some of Williamson County’s most revered and bucolic places.

Through using photos of her work, Anne will demonstrate the spiritual and mental preparation she goes through to create her masterpieces. Anne will also teach participants the practical methods she uses for her multi-media creations; using photographs and paint to capture the beauty she sees all around her. Participants will find out how she blends new-world technology and old-world artistry to create her timeless best-works. Anne’s presentation is not just for artists. The general public will find this program inspiring.

Her work can be found in the collections of Tennessee State Museum, Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, Oprah Winfrey, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, plus Billy Ray Cyrus, to name a few.

Anne will speak about how we, as artists, not only share the inspiration given by our surroundings, but also how we can help preserve a grounding way of life. Anne’s love for nature has led her to be involved in conservation issues and to look for, and see the beauty of this world and try to preserve it.
