Harpeth River Dam Project Takes A Beating

With all of the rain and high water the new Harpeth River Dam Project has taken a beating. The water was very high and covering most of the work that had been done. According to City Administrator Eric Stuckey the project is not fully completed and should be finished in the spring.

“Structurally the new design is holding up very well,” said Stuckey after conferring with staff closer to the project. “We believe once the shallow slopes get more established, potential large storm events in the future will have significantly lower amounts of erosion.  Due to the fragile nature of the newly planted vegetation the high water occurrence this last week did cause some minor damage and we’re in the process of repairing this.  We still consider this project an active construction site until the plantings are established.”
