Cheddar’s Rebrands & Becomes Part of the Darden Restaurants Group

You may have noticed a new sign at Cheddar’s in Brentwood. Cheddar’s recently rebranded their logo to include the words “Scratch Kitchen” (they were formerly called Cheddar’s Casual Cafe.) Shortly after the rebranding, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen was acquired by Darden Restaurants for $780 million in an all cash transaction a few months back.

With the acquisition now complete, Cheddar’s joins Darden’s portfolio of brands which also includes Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Yard House, The Capital Grille, Seasons 52, Bahama Breeze and Eddie V’s.

Cheddar’s CEO Ian Baines, who will continue in his role, stated,  “We are excited about the opportunity to be a part of Darden. Our operating philosophy and values are similar and we believe this transaction provides a great opportunity for our team members to continue to grow and develop in their careers. Additionally, Darden’s expertise will enable us to further capitalize on our growth potential.”

This week, Darden announced they will be closing Cheddar’s corporate office in Dallas, reported Dallas News. Corporate Headquarters for Darden resides in Orlando, offers were made to 30 employees to transfer to Orlando but only 23 accepted the offer.

There are five Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen locations in the area which includes Murfreesboro, Smyrna, Mount Juliet, Hendersonville, and Brentwood.

Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Brentwood location is 1654 Westgate Circle. Visit the Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen website where you will find a coupon for a free dip or free dessert with a purchase of an entree.

  1. Doesn’t Darden own Red Lobster too? Or maybe that’s one they’ve let go in recent years to acquire Cheddars?

My dad loves the honey Dijon chicken & mushrooms entree there with green beans & carrots as the sides. But the last time we were there, carrots were no longer offered.

I used to get the Monte Cristo, but the last two times I’ve gotten it, it hasn’t been battered & fried..more like a club sandwich now. And my husband often got the catfish which is no longer on the menu either. The waitress tried to tell us that the redfish was the same thing. Not hardly!!

If you’re going to acquire another restaurant, why change their menu that’s made them successful for so many years?

  2. We enjoy eating at Cheddars. They have taken away the delicious Shepherd’s Pie. Wish they would bring it back. The ribs are delicious at Cheddars. Another good item that Cheddars has is the Chicken Fingers, they are very good, but not as big as they were when Cheddars first opened up.

Another restaurant that we wish would open in the Franklin or Brentwood area is the Olive Garden. We drive to Springhill at least twice a month & a long way to drive to eat at the Olive Garden.
