Summit rushed for 208 yards, and its defense held Lincoln County to 145, as the Spartans ended their regular season with a 21-13 road win on Thursday night.

The Spartans clinched the No. 3 playoff seed in 5A Region 5, where they’ll hit the road to face the two-seed from Region 6.

Summit’s first-round opponent will be Hillsboro, Beech, Gallatin or Hillwood, Hillsboro (6-3) faces Hunter’s Lane (0-9), while Beech (6-3) takes on Hillwood (3-6). Both games are on Friday. Should the favorites win, the Spartans draw Beech.

It probably wasn’t how the Spartans (6-4) would have drawn it up, but they’ll take it. Summit lost a pair of fourth-quarter fumbles, one at their 21. The Summit defense held Lincoln County scoreless on the first drive, though the other led to a Falcon touchdown.

Summit’s Destin Wade added a 1-yard touchdown run with 4:50 left in the third quarter, lifting Summit to a 21-0 advantage after Liam Akin’s extra point.

Lincoln County finally scored with 52 seconds left in the third quarter on West Jenkins’ 2-yard run, but Summit blocked the extra point.

Jenkins added another 2-yard scoring run with 2:03 left. Summit’s Christian Jolley then recovered the Falcons’ onside kick at the Lincoln County 48, and the Spartans ran out the clock.

Keaton Wade (nine carries, 76 yards and one catch for 17) got the Spartans on the board first with a 41-yard touchdown run with 26 seconds left in the third quarter.

With 4:24 left before half, Nafis Weldon added a 21-yard scoring run. The Summit lead remained 14-0 at the break.

George Odimegwu added 21 carries for 88 yards for Summit, though he also lost a pair of fumbles.
