Centennial, Ravenwood cheerleaders, dance team win state

Ravenwood and Centennial cheerleaders flexed their muscles Saturday, Nov. 12 at Middle Tennessee State University’s Murphy Center by claiming a trio of state championships.

Ravenwood’s dance team also took state in the medium varsity division.

“It feels great to represent our school, county and state in this way,” said RHS senior captain Logan Jordan. “Our dream is to continue our success and seal the deal in February by claiming the national title.”

Team members on state the championship squad are Olivia Corley, Ashton Carteaux, Sydney Dagostino, Avery Fallon, Sydney Fordice, Aerial Griffin, Bri Fick, Ally Hankins, Sidney Holley, Morgan Lanius, Peyton Rositano, Logan Jordan, Reghan Jordan, Bailey Martin, Lauren Martin, Greta Petterson and Brooke Phillips.  The team is coached by Barbee Morgan, head coach; Jay Noffsinger; Brittany Head and Stephanie Dykes, RHS faculty sponsor.

“This win is special for the entire team, but really unique for the six seniors because they have now won the state championship every year since their freshman year,” Coach Morgan said.

The team is preparing for the National High School Cheerleading Competition that will be held in Orlando, Fla., in February.

The Ravenwood dance team also brought home a state title in the Medium Varsity Jazz competition. It was the dance squad’s seventh state championship title.

The RHS Dance team includes Hayley Diggs, Johnna Jones, Katie Kmiecik, Savannah Micillo, Kiana Shahosseini, Reagan Woosley, Peyton King, Sara Smith, Taylor Boyd, Kimberly Buonaiuo, Taylor Layland, Caroline Kmiecik, Kendall Mitchell, Summer Smith and Eleanor Tisano.

Centennial’s varsity cheerleaders won their third state championship in as many years, taking home first in the Large Varsity competition. The junior varsity team finished second in the JV competition.

“As their new coach, I’m not only proud of their achievements but how hard they have worked to achieve them,” said CHS coach Anna Best. “The stunt groups are always coming into the gym to practice extra, and the girls have really come together as a team after their past few competitions. I’m excited to see what goals they reach next. It is a pleasure to get to work with these amazing athletes on a daily basis.”

CHS Cheer members include Avery Anderson, Ally Beard, Emma Kate Best, Millie Busing, Caroline Calabrace, Katelyn Denno, Audrey Elsner, Elli Helmintoller, Abbey Jordan, Preslie Kelly, Maddie Lawrence, Shelby Mathews, Gracie McCloud, Faith Parks, Cassetty Parrish, Lily Sackleh, Lily Shelton, Ashton Smith, Lauren Wilkinson, Ali Hudson and Lauren Robison.
