Brentwood quarterback Cade Granzow accounted for two touchdowns and running back Jordan Nicholas scored three, lifting the Bruins to a 45-33 win at Stewart’s Creek.
With Brentwood trailing by three early in the third quarter, Nicholas’s rushing touchdown put the Bruins back up, 24-20.
Granzow snuck over on a 1-yard plunge midway through the fourth quarter, putting the Bruins up 11.
Stewart’s Creek scored on a late-game touchdown pass, but Brentwood’s Walker Merrill recovered the onside kick. Nicholas put the game on ice with a 19-yard touchdown run.
Tank Starr added insurance points with a fumble recovery touchdown just after that.
Granzow hit Avery Williams with a 43-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, putting Brentwood up 7-6.
Kicker Tabor Miller added a field goal, then, Nicholas added a touchdown run for a 17-6 lead. The Bruins set that up with a blocked punt they recovered at the Stewart’s Creek 4.
Stewart’s Creek quarterback Jonnie Simmons rushed for a second-quarter touchdown, and when the 2-point try failed, Brentwood trailed 20-17. That was the score at half.
Brentwood (3-1) travels to Ravenwood next week.
