WCS Social Studies Teachers Earn State Awards

Social Studies Teachers

Two Williamson County Schools social studies teachers are being recognized for their excellence in the classroom.

Scales Elementary’s Melody Scott was named the Tennessee Council for the Social Studies (TCSS) Elementary School Teacher of the Year, and Franklin High teacher Ray Scheetz was named the TCSS High School Teacher of the Year

“I’m humbled to have been chosen,” Scott said. “This is an honor that represents what we do as a team here at Scales. I am so grateful for my students and how they empower me to be better every day.”

Scheetz and Scott were recognized at the TCSS annual conference in Gatlinburg March 8.

“This award is flattering because the recommendations were by students and colleagues on my behalf,” Scheetz said. “I know we have many talented history teachers at Franklin High, throughout Williamson County and throughout the state. The award has already provided some contacts I hope will produce new opportunities for my classes moving forward.”
