New Franklin Smoothie King Opening Soon

Smoothie King is preparing to open a new Franklin store.

The location at 1311 Murfreesboro Road, where GUAC Mexican restaurant used to be, should open sometime in September.

“We are shooting for early September, but it could be mid or late in the month, Clay Quattlebaum, who is the point man for franchise owner Paul McCulloch.

McCulloch, who owns 15 Smoothie King franchises, most of them in the Middle Tennessee area, is opening three more at the same time.

The Franklin location will be first, followed by one in Lebanon and one in Nashville on Jefferson Street.

“When I sign a lease I like to open as soon as possible,” McCulloch, who signed the lease in June, said.

He owns the Smoothie Kings currently in Williamson County: at the CoolSprings Galleria, at 600 Frazier Drive, 9040 Carothers Parkway and 330 Franklin Road.

“We got the tiles today, we will get the counters and cabinets next week and after that corporate will send an opener for the final stretch,” Quattlebaum said.

“I think it is a great location,” he added. “I am excited to get it open.”

Spring Hill Next?

McCulloch, who is the largest single franchisee of Smoothie Kings in the company’s national 800 location umbrella, said his sights are set next on Spring Hill.

“I am looking for a good location there now, and I hope if anyone has a good space there they get in touch with me,” he said.

Smoothie King could join Juice Bar as the second smoothie-type place in Spring Hill. Plans for a coming Juice Bar at the Kissing House have gone before the planning commission.
