This week, Nashville FC announced the schedule for their third season in the National Premier Soccer League.
Founded in 2013, Nashville FC was created at the United States’ first fully supporter-owned soccer club. Their first game at Vanderbilt Stadium drew over 2,000 fans in 2014. In their first season, the team finished 4th in the NPSL’s Southeast Division. Nashville FC repeated their 4th place finish last season.
The club, filling the void left by former United Soccer League’s Nashville Metros, has one major financial advantage over Nashville’s former team. While the Metros had to travel to face league opponents in Virginia and South Carolina, three of NFC’s five divisional opponents are in the Volunteer State. The other two opponents are Birmingham, an easy drive down I-65, and New Orleans.
The 2016 campaign begins on Thursday May 19th at Vanderbilt Stadium against New Orleans, then travel to face hated rival Chattanooga FC on the 21st. May 28th sees Memphis City FC make their first trip to Vanderbilt Stadium before traveling to Knoxville FC on June 4th. In the middle of June, NFC visits Birmingham, hosts Chattanooga, and makes the trek to Memphis between the 12th and 18th. After a June 22nd trip to New Orleans, Nashville hosts Knoxville and Birmingham to wrap up the regular season.
All Nashville FC games begin at 7 PM with tickets starting at $9 in advance online ($12 at the gate) and children under 12 get in for $1.
