The Franklin Police Department has increased its starting pay for both new recruits and experienced officers as it begins hiring for entry-level and lateral positions.
The department said entry-level officers will now start at $68,000 a year. Certified lateral officers can earn between $73,000 and $77,000 annually, depending on their verified law enforcement experience. Franklin Police said the new pay scale places the department among the highest-paying law enforcement agencies in Middle Tennessee.
Police Chief Deb Faulkner said the higher salaries are part of the department’s effort to attract and retain qualified officers.
“Our officers are valued and appreciated, and this investment reflects exactly that,” Faulkner said. “We’re committed to attracting the very best people to this profession while continuing to reward those who choose to build their careers here.”
In addition to the salary increase, the department offers a four-day work week, take-home patrol vehicles, tuition reimbursement, Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System benefits, specialty pay, shift differentials, overtime opportunities and special duty assignments.
The department also offers specialized assignments in areas including SWAT, criminal investigations, the FLEX Intelligence Unit, the Traffic Unit, Dive Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, Honor Guard and Forensic Services.
