Brentwood residents will soon have a chance to help shape the city’s future as officials prepare to mail surveys for the Brentwood 2040 Plan.

Starting this month, every Brentwood household will receive a postcard with a QR code and unique identifier to access the city’s 2040 Plan survey. Brentwood businesses will also receive postcards inviting them to complete a separate business survey. Surveys should be completed by Sept. 30.

Rather than surveying only a sample of residents, the city said it chose to give every household an opportunity to provide feedback that will help guide planning and development over the next 15 to 20 years.

The Brentwood 2040 Plan is an update to the city’s current 2030 Plan and will serve as a long-range roadmap for future growth, development and preservation. The plan will address topics including land use, transportation, infrastructure, public services, economic development and quality of life.

City staff, consultants and a 21-member advisory committee will use survey responses, community meetings and other public input to develop goals and recommendations before the plan is presented for adoption.

The city expects the Brentwood 2040 Plan to be completed by the end of 2026.
