The latest HGTV show features married couple Kortney and Dave Wilson, a Canadian couple who moved to Nashville for the pursuit of music and now pursues the perfect project.
“Masters of Flip” is a show where the Wilsons breathe new life into dilapidated homes in Nashville. In each episode, they search for the perfect property and venture to sell it for top profit. With limited timelines and even tighter budgets, these flippers take on the challenge of transforming each real estate disaster into a stunning family dream home.
Both Kortney and Dave have had independent record deals and even starred in their own CMT reality show in 2009 called “Meet the Wilsons.” Kortney also appeared on the soap opera ‘One Life to Live’ portraying herself.
Kortney told National Post how they got started flipping houses:
“We started a renovation on our own house and found it really expensive to hire contractors. It wasn’t a major renovation so we decided to subcontract it ourselves and consult a contractor, which is exactly what we did — and we did it for less money. We started to love the process and then an agent friend of ours said to us, ‘You bought this house a few years ago and completely transformed it. Why don’t you buy another one and do it there too? Take the equity that you’ve made out of renovating your own house and use it.’ So we started doing that, lipstick renovations, and made $10,000. Dave was working as a waiter at the time…”
“Masters of Flip” airs on HGTV on Thursday at 8pm central. This week’s episode features a flip that has a tiny detached coach house in the back yard.
