WRESTLING – Summit earns Top 5 in area tournament

Summit High School continued their best wrestling season to date this week, finishing fourth in the annual J.P. West/Bruin Invitational.

The Spartans led all local teams with 141.5 points – 116.5 ahead of tournament champion Union County.

Earlier in the week, Summit had improved to 22-1 for the season before falling to Independence late in the week.

Host Brentwood finished fifth with 135 points while Ravenwood was ninth at 107.5. Page was 17th with 64 points while Centennial rounded out the top 20 with 38 points.

Three Williamson County wrestling teams make their way to Dickson Tuesday for an important night of matches as the state tournament looms near in the future.

Summit, Ravenwood, and Franklin all make the trek where all four squads will compete in two venues at the school. The Fieldhouse will host Dickson County vs. Franklin, Dickson Co. vs. Ravenwood, and Ravenwood vs. Franklin while the Annex Gym sees Summit vs. Ravenwood, and Summit vs. Franklin.
