Memorial Day is next Monday, the 26th, and it is a day when we all remember and thank the men and women who have died serving our country.
A special Memorial Day service will be held at Veterans Park, located at 5 Points in downtown Franklin, on Monday at 10am. The ceremony will last 30-45 minutes.
A wreath laying ceremony will take place and Ken Moore, Mayor of Franklin, and Rogers Anderson, Williamson County Mayor, will say a few words. Other participants include personnel from the 1/327 Infantry, 101 Airborne Division, Ft. Campbell; the Tennessee Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors Team; the Williamson County Community Band; and American Legion Posts 22 and 215.
Fifteen new pavers, purchased by Williamson County residents, will be dedicated to memorialize deceased veterans. No active duty Williamson County residents were killed in action this past year so no new pavers will be added to the park.
Seating will be available for approximately 250 people; however, anyone arriving late or wanting to get a seat in a shady area might want to bring a lawn chair with them.
