A fire significantly damaged a home in the Meade of Avalon subdivision on Sunday, August 25, displacing a family of five.
The Franklin Fire Department was dispatched to the two-story, 3,200-square-foot residence at 11:59 AM after multiple neighbors called 911. Brentwood Fire & Rescue also responded as part of the departments’ automatic aid agreement. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire and smoke. Unsure if anyone was inside, crews conducted a primary search upon arrival. The family later returned home and confirmed they were all safe. There were no pets in the home.
Franklin Fire Marshal Andy King said the fire appeared to have started on the back porch and spread rapidly to the attic above the garage and into the main house, extending through second-floor windows. Due to the severity of the blaze, a second alarm was called. King commended firefighters for their aggressive and effective attack under challenging conditions.
While the exact cause remains under investigation, King said an electrical source has not been ruled out. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. King also thanked Franklin Police and Williamson Health EMS for their assistance on scene. He estimated the loss at $500,000.
