BGA Hosts Free Parenting Seminar

Battle Ground Academy is hosting “Raising Girls,” a program designed to help parents through the developmental stages of their daughters. The program, led by Sissy Goff, M.Ed., LPC-MHSP, will be held on Feb. 11 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at BGA’s Middle School. It is free and open to members of the community.

“This topic dovetails nicely with our mission of providing a strong foundation for children,” said Will Kesler, BGA Head of School. “Sissy Goff is a recognized expert in this field and we invite the community to join us for what will be an enlightening evening.”

“Raising Girls” is appropriate for parents of girls ages 5-19. In the program, Goff will review developmental stages and share what to expect at each age level. This will include specific advice for mothers and fathers as to what their child needs from them.

Goff has worked as the Director of Child and Adolescent Counseling at Daystar Counseling Ministries in Nashville, Tenn. since 1993. She has a Master’s degree from Vanderbilt University and is the author of a Lifeway video parenting curriculum called Raising Boys and Girls, as well as six books including parenting titles, Intentional Parenting, The Back Door to Your Teen’s Heart, Raising Girls, and Modern Parents, Vintage Values, as well as Mirrors and Maps for 11-14 year-old girls and Growing Up Without Getting Lost for 15-19 year-old girls. She provides parenting tips on her blog at www.raisingboysandgirls.com.

The program will take place in the Middle School Commons Room on BGA’s Glen Echo Campus at 336 Ernest Rice Lane in Franklin. Space is limited. Please register at www.battlegroundacademy.org.
