Hunter Caldwell scored four touchdowns to lead Fairview past host East Hickman by a score of 56-27. The win helped the Yellow Jackets remain undefeated in regional play heading into the last two weeks of the regular season.

Through the first half, the Eagles had a response for every score Fairview put on the board. After East Hickman opened the scoring halfway through, Fairview responded with Hunter Caldwell’s first touchdown, a 3-yard plunge to tie the game at 7 after the first quarter. On the next Jacket drive, Caldwell broke free a 72-yard run to give Fairview the 14-7 lead. After getting the ball back, Jake Beathard scored from 34 yards out, expanding the Yellow Jackets lead to 21-7. Two East Hickman scores before the break sent the teams to the locker room tied at 21.

On East Hickman’s opening drive of the second half, Hunter Caldwell intercepted a pass and returned it 34 yards for a touchdown. East Hickman fumbled the ensuing kickoff, and Fairview capitalized with a 16-yard touchdown run by Caldwell to give Fairview the 35-21 lead. Fairview got the ball back after stopping the Eagles offense, and added another touchdown via a Josh Ortiz 4-yard run. Fairview would add another touchdown with a 16-yard Hunter Caldwell scamper. East Hickman scored a touchdown to cap the 34 point quarter. Scoring would slow in the fourth, as the only scoring would come via a 1-yard touchdown run from Ortiz to set the final margin at 56-27.

The win moved the Yellow Jackets to 6-2, 4-0 in Class 3A, Region 6. The win clinched a top 2 finish in Region 6. Next week, Fairview hosts fellow regional undefeated foe Camden Central in a match-up for the regional championship.
