Women’s Self-Defense Course Offered in April

A new women’s self-defense program called ‘The Equalizer’ will be available in April from the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department.

‘The Equalizer’ is taught by Certified Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, and provides training in how to reduce the risk of sexual assault, as well as self-defense techniques. Learning these techniques may help boost confidence for women of all ages, including high school and college students.

The four-week course meets on Wednesday nights, April 22-May 13, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The course is for adults and teens age 15 or older. Teens age 15-17 must have a parent-signed release. The class will take place at the Academy Park Gym, 120 Everbright Ave.

‘The Equalizer’ course is free, but students must purchase a $21 training manual. To register, call (615) 790-5719, ext. 2010. Open to the public. For more information, go to www.williamsoncounty-tn.gov/womensselfdefense.
