Women Rock For Charity Camp

It’s back! Women Rock for Charity camp will take place again this weekend beginning on Friday, April 17th through Sunday, April 19th, 2015.

Women Rock for Charity held its inaugural music camp back in October of 2013 in Brentwood, Tn. The newly renovated building located at 9000A Church Street was once an eyesore but Carolyn Lipp saw the potential to make it a place where women can gain confidence, get a little out of their comfort zone or perhaps check being part of a rock band off their old bucket list.    Women Who Rock Show

Carolyn Lipp tells us how this weekend camp is special. “With this upcoming weekend, our drum instructor is a wounded warrior. He suggested we dedicate this camp to veterans and invite them to come participate. We had dedicated the September camp to breast cancer survivors so we had offered a specialized camp before. The drum instructor is part of the Wounded Warrior Project organization so he asked them to select some veterans to attend.”

“We also met with Operation Stand Down TN and learned about their outstanding organization for veterans. We invited them to select some veterans to attend the camp as well.  The veterans consider this camp experience as a therapeutic one and that it will help them regain some of their self confidence.  Veterans attending camp are both male and female. We also have other non veteran campers and there is  still have space available for more campers for this event.”

“Since the veterans could not afford to pay the camp expense, we reached out to other supporters and asked them to sponsor one of the veterans for the camp. We were able to obtain sponsorships for all of the veterans attending. Another one of our instructors  is married to an active duty military person and my son-in-law recently retired from 22 years in the Air Force so we are a military family as well”.

Grand Performance for the campers will be Sunday, April 19th, 2015  at 3:00 pm at the Pour House, located at 8th and Division Streets, Nashville. Everyone is invited to come cheer for the veterans and other campers as they perform their original songs written during the camp.
