Women Build Kick-off Event

It is time for the Seventh Annual Women Build event. What is the Women Build? The Women Build is a Habitat Build where women of all walks of life come together to address the housing crisis that faces many of the women and children of Williamson and Maury Counties.

The kickoff event will be at The Drury Plaza Hotel, 1874 W McEwen Drive, Franklin 37067, on Saturday, Mar. 5, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

At 3:45 p.m., there will be a short presentation and tips on fundraising for the build. The Veteran Women Build participants will be on hand to answer questions. Appetizers from Granite City will be served and alcoholic beverages can be purchased.

Construction on the home begins Saturday, April 2nd. You do not need to know anything about construction to participate in The Women Build. The only requirement is that each volunteer is asked to raise $250 toward the house and a volunteer goal of at least 1 build day. It costs $70,000 to build the home. To help participants raise money, a toolkit is provided with ideas and step-by-step instructions on how to raise the funds. In addition, Lowe’s and HFHWM will also offer optional, in-store workshops on Saturday mornings prior to the build to help participants learn skills for the build site. No experience in either fundraising or house-building is necessary.

How do I sign up to build? Please contact Emma Couch at [email protected] or 615-550-5619.

The kickoff event is free, but please register here: https://womenbuild2016.eventbrite.com
