Winter Speed Sessions with Fleet Feet

by Christine McDonald

Winter Speed Sessions is an 11-week program that begins Feb 16th and runs through April 26th.  This program is not only for the Rock n Roll Nashville Marathon and Half Marathon, but also for intermediate runners. Your team will meet at 6 a.m. at Brentwood High School or 6 p.m. at Hillsboro High School each Tuesday–you choose your weekly location.

“The basic distance ability to join is you have to be able run 2 miles,” says Coach Christi Beth Adams.

I spoke with Coach Christi Beth Adams and learned so much about these track sessions.

“You go out and hit your workout goals.  It builds a lot of confidence and you feel amazing. Some people run slower and some are faster. Track training has a different dynamic to it. You are out on a track and everybody is cheering for each other,” says Coach Adams.

Winter Speed Sessions are $65 and they include:

  • Personalized specific goals and pace schedule
  • Nashville’s best Coach
  • Weekly emails full of info and mojo
  • Sweet swag from Saucony.
  • A great time with other like minded runners

“There’s a lot of runners who didn’t find running until their 30’s or 50’s. Winter Sessions are perfect for that person who wants to go back to having a coach and learn how to do track work outs. It adds a little bit of a variety to someone whose been running, but not with a lot of direction,” says Coach Adams.

“Speed session is where you have to work harder and there is other people out there on the track pushing you. Eighty-four runners have now signed up. By the time the class begins, we will have 100 people out on the track. Runners aren’t competitive against each other. Everybody is out on the track trying to execute their workout and the person specific times I give them. I have a 74-year-old who signed up!” says Coach Adams.
