Winter Blues? Attend Get Fit Franklin Event Saturday

Get Fit Franklin, sponsored by Franklin Tomorrow and Vanderbilt Health, is having its next event at Pinkerton Park on February 28th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.!

What is Get Fit Franklin?
In 2011, Franklin Tomorrow launched its community co-operative initiative, Get Fit Franklin, thanks to the support of their founding partner, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, and other partners, including the City of Franklin.

Today, Vanderbilt Health serves as the presenting partner. This project is designed to encourage residents to take the first steps to a healthier, more active community by stepping out their front door. Participants, who register for the program, will receive t-shirts and other promotional materials as part of the program.

To register for this free event, go to www.getfitfranklintn.org. Through its Website and other means, Get Fit Franklin provides residents with measured and marked walking routes in an effort to increase the level of physical activity among the city’s residents.  All routes utilize existing sidewalk networks, which will focus attention on where connectivity exists in the city, but also where sidewalks and connectivity are lacking.

Get Fit Franklin hopes to be an energizing force in changing the health and lives of the citizens of Franklin.

Come be a part of this free, public event and participate in fitness demonstrations and activities for kids and the entire family! Meet Moozie the Cow of the Children’s Kindness Network, Champ from Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, and a variety of health & fitness vendors.

Franklin Mayor Ken Moore and Williamson County Mayor Rogers Anderson will lead a one-mile walk at 10:30 a.m., so put on your walking shoes!

Graceworks will also be on hand, collecting healthy food donations for their Williamson County food pantry!
