WillPower 5K Holds its 6th Race in Downtown Franklin

On April 14, 2018, WillPower will hold its 5th annual 5K race in downtown Franklin beginning at 7:30 am.

Will NeSmith suffered a spontaneous brain hemorrhage in 2012 at the age of 12, a rare event that occurs in less than one-tenth of one percent of the population. He spent weeks in a coma and two months in a hospital and learned he would spend years rehabilitating his brain and body to relearn everything from walking to talking.

NeSmith decided to start the Will Power 5K to celebrate his survival and raise money for Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT), the genetic condition which led to his injury.

The race has seen huge success with over 1,000 runners registered. Comments from years past runners say, it is one of the most organized races they have run and you get to the finish the race on America’s favorite Main Street in downtown Franklin. Forbes Magazine named it as one of the best races for new runners saying, “Set in downtown Franklin — a historic southern main street lined with high-end boutiques and restaurants — this 3.1-mile race offers its small field of runners a chip-timed course, an affordable registration fee ($30) and a chance to support an honorable cause. ”

Online Registration for the race ends on April 12th. For more information on how to register and NeSmith’s story, visit WillPower 5K.
