Williamson County ranks top in the state as Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) scores are released. The best county in Tennessee is getting even better. “Hard Work and dedication” has brought the Williamson County School System to where it is today, says Director Mike Looney, but “the best is yet to come.”

Williamson is one of the highest achieving counties in the state. “This is an important milestone we have reached, but it is not the end of our journey,” says Looney. The summer has been filled with professional development training in Common Core Standards and improvement of evaluation tools. Looney was quick to recognize the core staff present with him at the media release conference and told them he was “proud and humbled to be part of the team,”

In a prepared statement the Commissioner of Education Kevin Huffman said, “I could not be more impressed with the achievement results in Williamson County. It is incredibly challenging to take very high performing schools and grow performance significantly, as Williamson County did this year.”

Williamson was already a model performer in the state in grades 3-8.

The Franklin Special School District (FSSD) also did well on the TCAP scores. Director of Schools David Snowden believes the Common Core Curriculum will challenge the system to do even better. Support your local teachers and tell them “thank you” for a job well done.
