1. Movies in the Park

WHAT: Two local movies in the park take place this weekend. Take the family to see “A Dog’s Purpose” at Evans Park in Spring Hill and “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” at the Leiper’s Fork Lawnchair Theater.

WHEN: Friday, Aug 25th: 7p at Evans Park, 8p at Lawnchair Theater

2. Chukkers for Charity

WHAT: For the fifth consecutive year, Nissan will present Chukkers for Charity, a polo match and outdoor event held in Franklin this weekend. This year’s theme is “Up Up and Away” and marks 21 years of raising funds for Rochelle Center and Saddle Up!. 

In addition to the polo match, the event features a vintage car show parade during half time, a silent auction and tailgating competition. Guests are encouraged to participate in celebrating the theme through the décor of their individual cabana tailgating headquarters.

WHEN: Saturday, Aug 26, Gates open at 1p for tailgaters, 2p for patrons, opening ceremony held at 2:45p and the polo match begins around 3p. Following the polo match, the Patrons’ Dinner will begin at 6:15p

3. The Great Americana Barbecue Festival

WHAT: Ths weekend, the air in Franklin, Tennessee will be filled with the sweet aroma of hickory smoke and simmering sauce for the ‘Great Americana Barbecue Festival’. Visitors will enjoy some of the most “finger licking good” barbecue around, prepared by professional pit masters and iron chefs from across the country.

4. Kids Rock at Mellow Mushroom

WHAT: Calling all young musicians, singers and parents – Mellow Mushroom is opening up their Franklin patio to performers ages 6-13 who would like to showcase their talent for their KIDS ROCK! event. This will be a fun event for kids and families. Spots are now open.

5. Songwriter’s Series at Westhaven

WHAT: The Westhaven community in West Franklin will continue their Sunday Night Singer Songwriter Series this weekend, and will feature an evening with Queen of Hearts.

Ellen Britton, Helen Lewis Moore, Bethanne Clayton and April Amick Caughman are seasoned musicians who have cut their teeth in Nashville’s own Bluebird Café, playing regular sold-out shows. Audiences around the country have seen them come together at venues as diverse as Drew University (New Jersey), Stephens College (Missouri), The Roger Smith Hotel (NYC), Southern Festival of Books (Nashville) and Rhythm on the River (Columbia, SC).

Their unique style combines bluegrass, pop, folk and blues to create a one-of-a kind blend of artsy and soulful original music. Shows are high-spirited, free-wheeling and full of energy. These ladies love to sing together, and audiences can tell.
