Williamson Weekend: 5 Holiday Happenings

1. Dickens of a Christmas

WHAT: The 33rd annual Dickens of a Christmas festival takes place in downtown Franklin this weekend. The free festival will recreate the time of Charles Dickens using historic downtown Franklin’s Victorian architecture as the backdrop.

Some 200 musicians, dancers and characters will fill the streets, including several from Charles Dickens’s stories. Expect to see and interact with the nefarious Fagin from Oliver Twist; Jacob Marley, Ebenezer Scrooge and Tiny Tim Cratchit with his parents from A Christmas Carol; and of course, a Victorian Father and Mother Christmas with treats for children.

New attractions this year include an ice skating rink, located next to City Hall in Public Square and mulled wine on the public square. Plus, local band Jars of Clay will perform on Saturday night.

WHEN: Saturday, Dec 9th 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec 10th 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

2. Leiper’s Fork Christmas Parade

WHAT: It’s time again for the Leiper’s Fork Christmas Parade, a parade truly like no other.

The Leiper’s Fork Christmas Parade takes place Saturday 2p-4p in historic Leiper’s Fork and has everything from Clydesdale Horses to pot-belly pigs, vintage cars and, of course, Santa!

By attending, not only can you enjoy one of the most festive parades in town, but you can also help out some worthy causes.

They ask spectators and participants to donate to the Williamson County Animal Center. There will be dogs and cats available for adoption at the parade site and walking in the parade.

3. Goat Yoga Nashville/ Ugly Christmas Sweater Party

WHAT: It’s the Holidays and what could be better than a Goat Yoga Nashville Ugly Christmas Sweater Party! So come deck the halls, do some yoga and take pictures with your favorite famous goats!

If you did not buy a ticket and would like to watch, you must sign a liability waiver and you must sign a liability waiver before participating as well.

Bring your own yoga mat, water, towel, bug spray, sunscreen or anything else you may think you need etc etc…

4. Breakfast with Santa, hosted by Williamson Co Parks & Rec

WHAT: Your children (ages 12 and younger) can enjoy a light breakfast, some crafting and pictures with Santa. Online Pre-registration is required. Register here. Cost is $12 per child/two adults + $6 per additional child

5. Franklin Improv All-Stars Happenin’ Holiday Celebration

WHAT: It’s the Franklin Improv All-Stars happenin’ holiday comedy show! Break out your ugliest holiday sweater (if you like) and they’ll break out the laughs. For just one night, let go of all the yuletide craziness and join the Franklin Improv All-Stars for some holiday inspired improv comedy fueled by audience suggestions.

Franklin Improv All-Stars are a mix of the region’s finest improvisers. These shows are family friendly. Tickets are only $15 and can be purchased at www.franklinimprov.com.
