1. Discovering the Station

 

WHAT: Celebrate Thompson’s Station, their new K-8 schools, and local parks at the Discovering the Station event. This family fun event will include food trucks, live music, children’s activities, local vendors & is pet-friendly! Bring a blanket or chairs and soak in the beauty of Preservation Park.

2. Music in the Meadow with Barrett Baber

WHAT: NBC’s “The Voice” finalist, Barrett Baber gave millions of viewers an unforgettable introduction to a rising new artist and entertainer on the country music scene. Baber’s recently released full-length album A Room Full of Fighters debuted in the top 10 on iTunes Top 100 Album Charts. Gates open at 5:30 pm for picnics, hikes and meeting the owls; Music starts at 7:00 pm. 3. Great Americana BBQ Weekend: Flavor of Franklin & Great Americana BBQ Festival

WHAT: It’s a weekend of good eats with The Flavor of Franklin and the Great Americana BBQ Festival, both taking place at Harlinsdale Farm this weekend.

The Flavor of Franklin opens the Great Americana BBQ Weekend Friday night. It is a celebration of the area’s best food and beverages. Over 20 local restaurants and specialty food vendors will be on hand to give you a taste of some amazing food.

Saturday night, its the BBQ Festival. Visitors will enjoy some of the most “finger licking good” barbecue around, prepared by professional pit masters and iron chefs from across the country. Barbecue will take center stage with vendors, grilling demonstrations, a whole hog smoking contest, and a Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) sanctioned barbecue competition, featuring over 80 teams competing in five categories for thousands of dollars in total cash prizes. Festival goers will be able to join in on the judging by selecting the “People’s Champion”.

Tickets for the Flavor of Franklin are $20 online as well as at the gate. Festival ticket are $5, children 12 and under get in free. Purchase tickets here.

4. Spring Hill Orchestra Summer Concert

 

WHAT: Join the talented Spring Hill Orchestra (SHO) for a very special summer chamber concert featuring internationally-known classical guitarist John Johns, and the SHO’s own Chloe Evans (violin) and Luke Guelcher (French horn). The program includes Vivaldi’s “Guitar Concerto in D Major,” Mozart’s “Violin Concerto No. 5 (first movement),” Mozart’s “Horn Concerto No. 2 (third movement),” and Haydn’s “Symphony No. 59 (the “Fire”).” There are no tickets for this event; however, the orchestra gratefully accepts donations at the door.

5. Southern Whiskey Society
