Williamson County Wrestling Club is Ripe With Talent and Trainers

You may not realize it, but the Williamson County Wrestling Club is making a name for itself while helping youth become better citizens through faith, character building and professional training. We chatted with Ken Friedl, President & Head Coach about the program and found out just how successful they are on the mat and in the community.

Ken came to this program over 10 years ago and brings 27 years of experience to students in grades k-8 who want to enjoy the great sport of wrestling while learning how to be better citizens. He was an assistant coach for St. Edwards High School in Lakewood, Ohio for 5 years and the school is known for being a powerhouse in high school wrestling. Quantres Bates also teaches and hales from Ohio. He is a three-time all American and the two-time NAIA National Champion for Findlay University. Additional coaches and fathers volunteer so the teacher to student ratio stays between 5-8 students per coach.

This club has 40 to 45 members and earns high accolades at tournaments near and far. In addition to teaching wrestling the club prays together and does community service like working with GraceWorks Food Drives. Their March 9th Competition at the Tennessee AAU State Championships brought 11 of 14 qualifying wrestlers home with titles. Below is a list of those winners.
