More Traffic Means More Crashes in Williamson County

 

traffic special report headerIt’s no secret that Williamson County is seeing more and more drivers on the roads these days. In fact, the number of licensed drivers has increased by 26,557 in the last 6 years.

The State of Tennessee gives each county a crash ranking, based on a variety of factors. Below, you can see how Williamson County’s rank in three different areas: Fatal Crash Rank, Injury Crash Rank and Overall Rank have changed over the years as more and more people have flocked to the area and either become residents or are commuting in and out of Williamson County on a daily basis.

There are 95 counties in Tennessee. In 2014, Williamson County’s crash rate was 28.803, giving them a rank of 38. For the same year, Davidson County’s crash rate was the highest of all 95 counties at 57.683, and Bledsoe County had the lowest crash rate of 6.999. The crash rate is calculated per 1,000 licensed drivers.

As you would probably suspect, most traffic accidents occur during morning and afternoon rush hours and also during the lunch time hours. See below for a breakdown of when the most accidents happen.
