Williamson County Schools to implement new high school GPA calculation system.

Williamson County Schools

Starting this school year, Williamson County Schools will be calculating high school GPA differently. The students current GPA will stay the same, starting this year grades will be given extra points based on the level of difficulty of the class you take.

GPA calculation will still remain the same when it comes regular classes in high school. For Honors classes will be given an extra half a point in GPA value for the extra difficulty level. Students will be given a full point extra if they are in an AP or and IB class. AP and IB c are college level classes and students will be given extra points to reward them for extra work and difficulty that comes with the class. The GPA will be used for all official school purposes such as report cards and honor roll, however the scale for the Hope and Lottery Scholarship will continue to be the Tennessee Uniform Grading Scale.

This process is implemented to help communicate with college admissions offices and scholarship granting offices. Graduating seniors will be ranked according to the cumulative average upon completion of the last completed semester.
