The Williamson County School Board has approved the 2016-2017 school calendar.
The 2016-2017 schedule is pretty comparable to this year— the school year is beginning the first week of August, as it did this year and there will be 177 instructional days, just as the current school year.
Start of School: First 1/2 day is Aug 5, 2016
End of School: May 23, 2017 (1/2 day)
Students will be out of school 2 days for Fall Break, 5 days for Thanksgiving Break, 10 days for Winter Break and 5 days for Spring Break. In addition to the usual school breaks, students will have 10 days off for administrative and professional development days–this includes an administrative day and a professional development day, that occur immediately after the official end of Winter Break, which gives students a total of 12 days off during the holiday season, before returning to school in January 2017.
What’s new?
- Students will be out of school for Columbus Day (Oct 10, 2016)
- Good Friday does not occur during Spring Break as it does in the 2015-2016 school year, so students will be out of school for Good Friday (April 14, 2017).
- 2016 is an election year, so students will be out of school on Nov 8, 2016.
The current snow policy will remain in place for the 2016-2017 school year:
Snow Days Up to ten (10) snow days are accumulated in the school calendar through extended work (stockpile) days and will not be made up. If more than ten (10) days are missed due to weather related conditions, the Calendar Committee will make a recommendation to the Superintendent of Schools from the following days: 2nd Semester Professional Development days; 2nd Semester Spring Break days; additional days at the end of the school year calendar.
