Williamson County To Help Plant 50K Trees

The Tennessee Environment Council wants to plant 50,000 trees in one day. It’s called the 50K Tree Day and you can help. This event was originally scheduled for Feb 21st but due to inclement weather, this event has been rescheduled for March 14th.

Thousands of volunteers will plant 50,000 trees across all 95 counties in Tennessee. Locations across Tennessee are participating, including the Town of Nolensville‘s Trees and Trails Committee,  and Friends of Bowie Nature Park.

In Nolensville, the event begins at 10am at the Nolensville Park on Rocky Fork Road.

In Fairview, volunteers are asked to check in between 9:00 and 9:30am at Shelter #1 at Bowie Nature Park (rain, snow or shine!). At 9:30am volunteers will be led to the planting area and from 10:00-11:00am volunteers will join hundreds of others across the state in trying to plant as many native trees as they can.

Volunteers are asked to register in advance to ensure adequate quantities of tools and trees. To register, e-mail [email protected] or call 615-799-5544 EXT 2. More information about this event at Bowie Park can be found at www.BowiePark.org or by calling 615-799-5544 EXT 2. You can also find out more information about Tennessee Environmental Council and 50K Tree Day by visiting www.tectn.org.

Participants should wear close-toed shoes and bring a water bottle and gloves/shovel, if possible. All tools will be provided but feel free to bring your own!

Supporting organizations include: Mill Creek Watershed Association and the Cumberland River Compact and  the event is sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture’s Riparian Buffer Program.
