Ever wonder just how much all those overdue library book fines add up to?

Maybe more than you would think. Monday night at the County Commission meeting, a resolution passed accepting and reinvesting nearly $10,000 in overdue fines the Williamson County Library collected from last year.

The money will go into the library’s budget to buy new books and help cover costs for other ongoing projects, according to the resolution.

Politely called “donations” the $9,684 the library collected in fines included money from some of the commissioners.

At the Budget Committee meeting last week, when considering the resolution, commissioner David Pair, District 3, said that he definitely contributed to that total.

At the County Commission meeting last night, Mayor Rogers Anderson reminded him of it, joking that even commissioners are not exempt from paying overdue library fines.
