The 7th Annual Law Enforcement Challenge earned Tennessee agencies a total of 54 awards. Of the awards presented 10 Tennessee agencies were recognized nationally with three top honors. “The National Law Enforcement Challenge honors the good work of our law enforcement agencies,” said TDOT Commissioner John Schroer. “It also provides an incentive for law enforcement agencies to reach new heights, set comprehensive goals, and to share their experiences. These enforcement and education efforts help keep our roads safe and help nurture better drivers.”

This annual competition gauges the overall traffic safety programs and is judged by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). Departments are reviewed by category based on the size of the department and type of agency. Winning programs combine officer training, public information and enforcement to reduce crashes and injuries in their area.

Individually these local awards were given:

Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, category of 76-100 sworn officers – 2nd Place

Franklin Police Department was recognized in Child Passenger Safety
