Tennessee has a new traffic safety initiative called COMET, Combined Message Enforcement of Tennessee. The focus is on all aspects of driving safety. Driving trends are changing and so is enforcement. Speeding, aggressive driving, impaired driving, distracted drivers and seatbelts will be high on the list of infractions the county hopes to reduce during this effort.
Today distracted driving is one of the leading causes of crashes in the country, where 20 years ago it was only speeding and impaired driving. Do everyone on the road a favor and put down the phone, don’t text and drive, or read email or watch videos. Williamson County is helping Tennessee in this National Highway Traffic Safety Administration pilot campaign being tested by two U.S. states.
