Williamson County CASA Holds Third Annual “Voices for Children” Event

Williamson County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is hosting its 3rd Annual “Voices for Children” fundraiser at the Franklin Theatre on May 21st,  an evening that will benefit the local non-profit and its mission to protect abused and neglected children within the county’s court system.

“Voices” attendees will kick off the night with a cocktail hour beginning at 6 pm  that includes hors d’oeuvres compliments of Strategic Hospitality—the brains behind Pinewood Social and Catbird Seat—and a silent and live auction with prizes that include a Dolly Parton-signed mandolin, a football autographed by Tennessee Titans’ quarterback Jake Locker and a guitar endorsed by ABC’s Nashville cast.

The proceeding performance featuring the Music City Hit-Makers will lend a unique “song meets symphony” aspect to the evening, with the featured artists sharing the stories behind some of the biggest hits they’ve penned. Grammy award-winner and two-time ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Brett James—an elite among Nashville’s storied songwriting traditions—will lead the night’s performance with fellow award-winning artists Jessi Alexander and Kyle Jacobs.

James has seen his songs recorded by everyone from Jon Bon Jovi and Chicago to Jason Aldean and Martina McBride, and the performer has scored 13 Billboard #1 country songs over the past decade, including Dierks Bentley’s current #1 single “I Hold On.” Other hits include Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus Take The Wheel” and “Cowboy Casanova;” and Kenny Chesney’s “When The Sun Goes Down,” “Out Last Night,” and “You Save Me.”

Alexander is the reigning CMA “Song of the Year” winner and a 2014 Grammy nominee whose hits include Lee Brice’s “I Drive Your Truck;” Blake Shelton’s “Mine Would Be You;” and Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb.”

Jacobs is one of Nashville’s most sought-after songwriters and producers whose hits include the Garth Brooks’ smash “More Than A Memory;” Tim McGraw’s “Still;” and the current Eli Young Band single “Dust.”

Executive Director Marianne Schroer says that enjoying the “Voices” evening means contributing to the community in a very tangible way. “Every ticket sold will directly impact the CASA mission to provide each child that we serve with a stable and permanent home,”  she said.  “The work of our CASA volunteers not only impacts the children we serve but also the community as a whole by helping to break the cycle of abuse and neglect within families.”
