Williamson Medical Center Expansion

Williamson Medical Center, in partnership with Vanderbilt, started work on an expansion Tuesday on Carothers Parkway.

WMC Expansion 2Two new buildings will be built–one to be named Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital Vanderbilt at Williamson Medical Center. It will be three stories high and provide emergency care, surgery, impatient care and womens services. The second building will house expanded surgical suites.

The expansion will allow WMC to stay state-of-the-art, and ensure that medical care grows with the population of the area.

The $65 million project will open, if all goes to plan, in January 2015, said Melonee Hurt, spokeswoman for Williamson Medical, at a press conference Tuesday.

WMC Expansion 1Discussions started 10 years ago, about bringing a children’s care center to Williamson county, said Don Webb, WMC CEO.

“Today we celebrate the beginning of this next phase in our journey as we continue to grow to meet the needs of the communities,” he said.
