When Will the Spring Hill Theater Open?

Everybody in Spring Hill has patiently been waiting for the new Carmike Theater to open its doors and provide the community with hours of movie magic. This all started around January 2014 with the first press release from Carmike Theaters. Since then we heard of an opening date of June 1st.

According to City Communications Officer Jamie Page, “it’s still a little unclear at this point. I was told the public grand opening would be June 18, and then later understood it to be June 19. I am still awaiting confirmation on the date.”  So it appears we will just have to hold our breath and count the days until they open the doors.  I just hope that the Carmike Theater in Spring Hill is open before the new Star Wars movie is showing.

The new theatre will be furnished with 12 screens and have total seating capacity for more than 2,500 guests. The BigD, Carmike’s own premium large screen format experience auditorium, will seat 540 patrons. All auditoriums in the leading-edge entertainment complex will be equipped with stadium seating with comfortable high-back rocking luxury seats,
retractable armrests and convenient cup holders. The Carmike 12 will contain large, wall-to-wall screens, DLP digital projection and digital surround sound in all auditoriums.outside2

The facility’s upscale lobby will contain multiple concession areas featuring self-serve Coca-Cola Freestyle drink centers, which pour more than 100 customized fountain drink varieties. One-stop ticketing will also be included in the lobby area so cinemagoers will be able to escape the elements and purchase their tickets and favorite concessions at the same transaction point. The new complex also provides special services for visually and hearing impaired patrons using Sony Closed Captioning glasses (CC) as well as descriptive and amplified audio (VI & HI).

Carmike Cinemas President and Chief Executive Officer David Passman stated, “We are very excited to bring this exceptional entertainment complex to the local Spring Hill community and provide our valued guests from across the region with the ultimate in cinema-going entertainment. Our new entertainment destination will feature large format digital presentation, bigger screens, better sound and plush seating for the definitive enjoyment of all audiences. Spring Hill will soon join the select list of communities in ‘Hometown America’ offering Carmike’s uniquely immersive BigD large screen presentation. As always, we are focused on delivering a ‘best-in-class entertainment experience’ to our guests and plan to continue expanding the number of BigD auditoriums and premium presentation choices across our circuit.”

To further enhance the premium experience, a custom QSC digital audio system will be tuned to a 7.1 speaker array with 16 channels, upgradeable to 11.1 surround sound. This system is a true revolution in sound technology, with digital audio processing supported by quadamplified, 4-way speakers, and 21-inch subwoofers. The BigD is powered by a cutting-edge Christie Brilliant 3-D flash projector, which will also present 2-D entertainment. The end result is a light output of 30,000 lumens, creating a picture quality with noticeably higher resolution than HD.
