Plenty of surprises were expected on the first day of NFL free agency.
Jake Locker retiring at the age of 26 was not one of them.
Multiple media outlets were quick to the story, including the NFL Network and NFL.com.
Jake Locker: “I’m retiring from football after much reflection and discussion with my family.Always grateful for having had the opportunity”

More from Jake Locker: “I no longer have the burning desire necessary to play the game for a living.”

The Titans made Locker the No. 8 overall pick in the 2011 draft out of the University of Washington. He struggled with injuries throughout his four-year career, playing in only 30 out of a possible 64 games.
During that time he completed 57.5% of his passes for 4,967 yards with 27 touchdowns and 22 interceptions.
Locker was not expected to resign with the Titans but figured to draw interest from teams as a backup quarterback.
