westhaven foundation donates 120k to monroe carell jr children's hospital

In a follow up to this year’s tenth annual Franklin 4 The Cure Run and Concert 4 The Cure event, The Westhaven Foundation will donate $120,000 to benefit Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. A check presentation will be held Wednesday, December 2nd at 5:30 p.m. at The Westhaven Golf Club in Franklin, Tennessee.

The Westhaven community hosted Franklin 4 The Cure; an all-day event which included “Run 4 The Cure 5K Run Walk” and “Concert 4 The Cure.” All proceeds from both events will be included in the donation to the Franklin 4 The Cure Discovery Grant supporting cancer research at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

Bridgestone Americas, Comcast Xfinity and Nissan of Cool Springs were presenting sponsors of the year’s event. This year’s “Concert 4 The Cure” featured a performance by Uncle Kracker.

The event originated from efforts by the Stacey family, after their mother Teresa Stacey, lost her 12-year long battle with the disease in 2001. So far, the Stacey family has helped raise more than $700,000 for cancer research here in Middle Tennessee.

This year’s research will once again help lead to breakthrough discoveries in the fight against cancer. Findings from this preliminary research are dire to obtaining additional funding from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and other federal agencies that grant millions every year to support further cancer research.
