Weekend Weather Forecast: Mixed Bag

weather alert

As Old Man Winter tries to make up his mind as to how this year will go, he has decided to just do a little bit of everything this weekend. The only surety is that already swollen streams and rivers will receive more rain. Storms, some possibly strong are also in Saturday’s forecast. And then, maybe, snow. Here’s the breakdown according to the NWS in Nashville:

Saturday Weather Forecast 1/9:
Your morning will start warm and possibly the occasional rumble of thunder, as temps crawl into the upper 50s by mid afternoon. A few of the storms could be isolated to severe. Heavy rains may cause localized flooding and already swollen rivers will need monitoring.

Late Saturday afternoon through Saturday evening, the weather takes a drastic turn. Winds will switch to the NW and temps will begin dropping as the rain continues.

Sunday Weather Forecast 1/10:
This is where things get interesting, rain could change over to snow early in the A.M., as temps and wind continue to plummet. At the writing of this article, no accumulations are expected. However, your morning commute to church and work could be impacted. We will update this if things change.

It’s going to be VERY cold. Temps will be below freezing and wind chills will make it feel like the teens all day. Monday morning’s back to work low is expected to drop to around 15 degrees.
