Weekend Lane Closures for I-65

Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will close lanes on Interstate 65 in Franklin this weekend for bridge repairs at State Route 248 (Peytonsville Road/Goose Creek Bypass). The work is scheduled as follows:

  • Saturday, October 11, 6:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – I-65 northbound will be closed. I-65 southbound will have brief rolling roadblocks.

  • Sunday, October 12, 6:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – I-65 southbound will be closed.

The lane closures are necessary to set steel beams for a new bridge. The work is part of a larger effort to restore two structures that were destroyed in a tanker fire in August. Construction on a second bridge is expected next spring. In addition to the bridges, the $46 million project will widen I-65 between SR 840 and SR 248, modify the interchange, and widen the roadway on SR 248 in Williamson County.

This operation will likely create lengthy delays for traffic on I-65. Traffic will be detoured, depending on the direction of travel and the corresponding lane closures. Interstate ramps at SR 248 will be accessible; however, motorists are advised to plan ahead and utilize alternate routes if possible.

The scheduled closures are weather dependent.  Should inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances prevent work from occurring as scheduled, the time will be adjusted or the work will be rescheduled.
